Little Light loved to shine. She shone for the boats. She shone for the birds. She shone for anyone who might need her.

But one night, Little Light looked down at her own reflection in the water. She could not see herself at all.

But one night, Little Light looked down at her own reflection in the water. She could not see herself at all.

She had given so much of her light away that she had forgotten to shine on herself.

She had given so much of her light away that she had forgotten to shine on herself.

"What is wrong with me?" she whispered to the moon.

"What is wrong with me?" she whispered to the moon.

The moon smiled softly. "Nothing is wrong, little one. You just forgot that you need light too."

The moon said gently, "When you love yourself, your light never runs out. It grows. And then you have even more to give."

And she saw herself. Really saw herself. And she was beautiful.

And she saw herself. Really saw herself. And she was beautiful.

The next morning, a little boat sailed past. And Little Light shone brighter than ever before.

Because when you fill yourself with love, you have so much more to give away.

You are a light too. Don't forget to shine on yourself sometimes. The world needs you full.

You are a light too. Don't forget to shine on yourself sometimes. The world needs you full.

For the grown-up holding the light, too.
A Note for Grown-Ups Children learn to love themselves by watching the people they love practice it first. If this story moved something in you, that feeling belongs to you too. Not just to the little one in your lap. You are a light as well. And the world needs you full. Part of the Unraveling Change Universe
