Human to human

Not an authority.
A practitioner.

Still in the wash, like everybody else.

Jay Pierce writes the Unraveling Change books and gives every one of them away.

By day, Jay makes signs and vehicle wraps, and has since 2000. The rest of the time, Jay writes, makes music by ear, and asks why. Then asks why again. Then follows the answer wherever it wanders.

Where this started

There was a time Jay was so angry about everything happening in the world that they yelled at whatever higher power might be listening. Not politely.

“Why don’t you do something?”

The answer came back right away, and it was not polite either.

“Why don’t you?”

This site is part of that answer.

The line Jay will not cross

Love does not get to invade another person’s space, even lovingly. Seeing someone clearly means seeing the good and the hard parts together, and saying: you still matter, and who you choose to be is your choice, not mine. When someone chooses harm, love answers with the smallest step that stops the harm. Harm gets stopped. The choosing stays theirs.

Failing successfully

Jay falls short of all of this, often, and has some incredible moments too. The failures are the most useful part. They hold up a mirror, and it is up to each of us whether we pick up a comb or close our eyes. The question Jay keeps coming back to is a small one:

“Who am I not to forgive?”

Why it is all free

Because some things matter more than money. Nothing here will ever sit behind a gate. If donations ever show up, they will be participation, never payment, and the books will stay free either way.

Talk to us

Say anything.

Questions, stories, pushback, a thank you. Every note gets read. Nothing you write is shared unless you check the box.

A handwritten napkin note from Jay

“We are the keepers of our light.” From the napkin note.
